World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will increase an additional 3% of the previous damage every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the item to the upgrade (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much it will increase after a future reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a substantial risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also give the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, which is why it is best to put Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same type. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of extra bonuses. Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to personalize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. The item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be very useful in PvP battles, since an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
